BBFC to Give UK Age Verification Update at XBIZ Berlin

BERLIN — Providing the newest insider insights into one of the most confusing issues facing adult website owners in 2019, the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) will present an exclusive update on the rollout of mandatory age verification in the United Kingdom at the upcoming XBIZ Berlin show.

BBFC Policy Director Murray Perkins will be on hand to update attendees on the repeated setbacks the law’s implementation has been subjected to, along with a revised implantation timeline and tips for all site owners who are serious about protecting their businesses and protecting minors.

“The introduction of age verification in the U.K. has been delayed,” Perkins told XBIZ, “but the U.K. government remains committed to it and it’s wise to ensure that the industry is prepared for when the law becomes live.”

Perkins will update stakeholders on the newest developments in the U.K., along with the broader European regulatory scene, and why and how the industry should prepare for change.

The Q&A session with Perkins is set for Tuesday, September 11, from 1-1:50 p.m. in the Theatre of Konf II.

The session joins other trendsetting features of XBIZ Berlin, such as the inaugural “Meeting of the Minds” series, which will closely examine the current state of production, performing and promotion, with targeted conversations between new and established players, bringing members of the community together to explore the latest trends and newest revenue opportunities influencing the business.

XBIZ Berlin returns Sept. 9-12, uniting industry pros and newcomers from the European and broader international markets for thought-provoking discussions, deal-making opportunities and exclusive social events, culminating with the triumphant return of the XBIZ Europa Awards.

Held at the urban-chic Catalonia Berlin Mitte Hotel near the Mitte district, with local attractions such as Alexanderplatz and the historical Nikolaiviertel, the annual fall conference takes place in the heart of the city’s nightlife and entertainment scene.

A limited number of rooms are available at the host hotel for only 122 euros per night, which includes breakfast and a three-course luncheon buffet.

Affiliates, talent and producers qualify for free registration at XBIZ Berlin, while members of XBIZ.net are eligible for discounted event admission.
